What does the Cabinetmaking Diploma Cover?
Our comprehensive curriculum offers immersive classroom and lab experiences, providing practical ‘hands-on’ training in woodworking, cabinetmaking, and installation. With a focus on practical skills development, our Cabinetmaking diploma emphasizes key areas including:
- design principles,
- blueprint interpretation,
- material selection,
- advanced power tool utilization,
- surface finishing techniques, and adhesion methods.

Hands-on Learning
Your hands-on training includes the basic arts of cabinetry, including shaping and cutting wood, assembling components, installing fasteners and hardware and working on the preparation of articles for finishing, including the application of different types of decorative and protective finishes.
Students in the Cabinetmaking program will work with the following equipment: table saw, miter saw, drill press, band saw, planer, joiner, router, shaper, edge banding machine and a wide range of power and pneumatic tools.

For admissions to North American Trades School, domestic students must:
- Interview with an admissions advisor
- Provide proof of Gr. 12 OSSD or Mature Student Status
- Complete an application for admission
- Take an entrance evaluation
